About Douglas
He's not a politician. He's your neighbor.
Douglas Williams has lived in South Lake Tahoe since 2010. He's served 8 years with Christmas Cheer — a vital local resource combating food insecurity — and now serves as Chairman. With 20 years as a mortgage broker and 15 years in insurance, he's spent his career helping people build stability. That's why he's running.
Douglas Williams
Candidate for City Council
Why Douglas is Running
South Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places on earth — and one of the hardest places to stay. Douglas has watched the community he loves change in ways that hurt the people who make it run: the teachers, the tradespeople, the service workers, the families who've been here for years.
He's not running because he wants a title. He's running because he believes the City Council should be filled with people who actually live the same challenges as their neighbors — not just talk about them at ribbon cuttings.
After 20 years as a mortgage broker and 15 years in insurance, Douglas has spent his career helping South Lake Tahoe residents navigate homeownership and protect what they've built. He knows the programs, the barriers, and the solutions — and he's ready to bring that expertise to City Hall.
What Douglas Believes
Government should work for the people who live here — not just the people who visit.
A community is only as strong as its ability to keep its people.
Transparency and accountability aren't optional — they're the job.
Real solutions come from listening, not lecturing.
